Jeffe De Brabandere (b. 1998) lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium.
After De Brabandere obtained his master’s degree in visual arts in 2020 from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerp), he is now in his fifth year as a professional artist. De Brabandere’s work mainly consists of drawings, sculptures and installations. So far, he has focused on mainly two themes: how we look at animals and how we look at history. He often brings together relics consisting of animal bones, old volumes or worn-out utensils, ...
After graduating, De Brabandere was represented by Galerie Geukens & De Vil gallery until they closed the gallery in late 2023. For two years, he was assistant (unpaid) to Ricardo Brey (participated in the Venice Biennale in 2015). De Brabandere is also co-initiator and founder of the artist collective FAAR (For Artists and Residents) in Antwerp. This collective currently includes about thirty artists and provides studio spaces, space for meeting and conversation and organises exhibitions. In early 2025, De Brabandere launched Compost Space, a temporary exhibitionspace in Antwerp where he curated exhibitions and provided emerging artists with a platform to present their work.
De Brabandere’s participation in several group exhibitions such as Finis Terrae (2022-2023) brought him recognition. Several solo exhibitions were also a success.
To date, De Brabandere has completed three international artist residences: Finland (2024), South Africa (early 2025), and Paris, France (late 2025).
